NEW FEATURES
|
We've
added many new features to our message
forum.
The
forum is a great way to get to know the people you
see at many of the shows. It is also the 1st place
to learn about special events, parties, newest songs
and what's happening in the community.
Drop
us a line when you register so we can grant you
special access to the forums for our local singers
...the PALS Zone.
We're
always adding new photos but this month
we added two new photo galleries to our Website.
Check out the antics of various friends
inspired by the Dog & Pony Logo:
"Living
Logo" Series

... And the new "masterpiece
theatre" Dog & Pony Style: where we
applaude the creative, the inspired, the wacky and
the zany...various singers taking songs quite literally.

501 Hazeldean Rd. (Kanata)
features Karaoke 2 nights a week! Thursdays
with Dog 9:30 -1:30 and Fridays with Hound
10pm-2am.
Note the shows now start and end later.
This is a fun room that always has more people
partying than singing so if you like to
sing lots, this is definately the place to
be.

One of my favorite rooms (gotta love the balcony
overlooking the Market...and oh the beautiful

always upbeat, quirky & fun. You
never know what they'll do next.
Last month the LookOut threw a karaoke pizza
party in honor of Donnie's birthday with free
pizza for everyone.
Kat
will be celebrating her birthday at The LookOut
June 19th.
Stay tuned for the "Christmas in July"

SWIZZLES,
246 Queen Street
is one of our most comfortable venues. New
carpeting, new paint, new lighting, new chairs,
new lounge and new stage and same great service!
WOW!
The Swiz features Karaoke Tuesdays & Fridays
with Miss Kitty 9:30-1:30 and and Sundays
8:30pm -12:30 with the Dog.
Join
the Dusty Owl Poetry Group the 3rd Sunday
of every month for a special featured
reader & open stage 5pm before karaoke.
Last
month The Dusty Owls featured a heart warming
acoustic set by Steve Muss. A truly a wonderful
night. Beaver & Pony performed some original
pieces on the Owl's open stage despite rusty
guitar fingers, others read inspiring words
of wisdom, some of nonsense, all of it fun!..and
our own Miss Kitty won the monthly poetry
challenge.
Stay tuned for details on the BIG PARKING
LOT KARAOKE PARTY Friday July 8th!

SINGER TIPS
|
Excerpts
from "Maximum Range"
by Mark Baxter
"The
key to singing high notes is volume. Reducing the
volume of your voice removes the burden of excess
air pressure so your folds can become more elastic.
Just as it takes a little stretching every day to
get your legs into a split, vocalizing daily at
a low volume will allow you to visit higher notes
without stress. Its best to sing scales rather
than songs at first; the memory of a songs
performance will lead you to pushing. Allow you
higher notes to venture into falsetto or head voice.
Its okay if the transition cracks or skips
out; this is just a symptom of your imbalanced ways.
Dont worry that the light voice you vocalize
with is not up to performance standards. Only after
you are completely comfortable with producing a
note at a low volume should you attempt to raise
the output. Increasing the volume in very small
increments will allow you to monitor muscle independence.
If facial or neck muscles join in to support a note,
youve added too much air pressure. Your controllable
range for the day lies waiting at the balance point
between force and flexibility. And as always, tomorrow
is another day. "
